Replacing mining with education for children in the DRC …
We believe that the digital and green economies of the wealthy west should not be propped up by the cruel and harsh reality of child labour in the DRC. We want to take children out of the mines and put them back in school. When a child is educated it creates the ability to break the cycle of poverty so many are trapped in.
We aim to deliver 3 key objectives:
Partnership
To partner with trusted on the ground providers to deliver health and education to the thousands of child miners in the DRC.
Advocacy
To advocate on behalf of those trapped in child labour, pressing for improved supply chain integrity.
Justice
To eradicate child labour. We hope to expedite the adoption of technologies, policies and practices that will ensure the deeply unjust use of child labour is eradicated.
“We seem to accept moral failure as long as it is hidden far enough down the supply chain to be invisible to the average consumer.”
— Mark Preston, FJP Co-Founder
What We’ve Achieved
FJP found its start in 2025 after our Founders gained rare, and highly dangerous access to an artisanal mine on their trip to Kolwezi in 2023. Compelled to do something about the human rights violations they witnessed the Freedom and Justice Partnership was born. Our Founders filmed and photographed the biblical scenes, dispelling the delusion that these mines were safe, legal and protecting human dignity. We then identified on-the-ground partners who are delivering vital health and education support for the children who are forced to work in these conditions.
We established a charitable entity and built a significant online community with the aim of ending this injustice.
Because of your giving …
90
Children have been taken out of the mines and funded to go to school for a
year!
We have also given speeches in the UK parliament encouraging our government, the people in power in our nation to take notice of the issues facing DR Congo.
We are working closely with bold policy-makers who are committed to implementing change.
